WHERE AM I AHHHHH

Welcome to my website. This is my homelab and personal site, inspired by neocities.

I am a computer scientist and computer audio nerd from Atlanta. I also make music.

I'm interested in federated internet things, math, compiler design, and cool music :)

MUSIC NEWS

I am basically done with the R&D phase for my next album. It is going to be called Web 6.0. The theme is federation!

I've been marinading on what I want to say and how, what souls I want to channel, what vibes I want to revive and put out, all of which at this stage in the game is harder than the actual making part. When I settle on the music, the music comes naturally. At this point, I'm hardly thinking when I make, the music is so natural that it just spills out when I feel like it. But that requires concentration, personal fulfillment, and getting my ducks in a row. It's a beautiful thing to have to escape the music to let the music breathe.

The rollout is going to come in stages. Web 6.0 is more of a concept to be fulfilled than a single idea, so I'll likely put it out and keep working on the vibes until I grow tired of it. The interesting part of all of this is how I am trying to develop a whole rollout around the music. I don't want this music to just be recorded music, I want it to be frameworks and improvisational vehicles for live performances, so that the album version is not the only version. Which is going to require quite a bit more planning (but about as much work). I have to like, write the tunes with all of that biz in mind, so this will be in the pipeline for a while.

Web 6.0 is a utopian, federated future where big tech has lost its grip on humanity's future. They fail to entice people, and by some undetermined future date, the people have returned to a self-hosted internet age where the internet is a loose connection of federated networks ("mini-nets"), rather than one large web. People keep their business to themselves, are confident and content to use physical media, and it is passe to use large-scale centralized technology like LLM's and social media. Social media's propaganda is so powerful; TikTok, for example, changes its model from showing you videos that other users make, to a feed of AI generated videos that are generated using the unlimited amount of data they have collected on you. They are able to show you videos of dead relatives telling you propaganda so unbelievably unreal that nobody can tell the difference between real and fake. The majority of humanity, thankfully, avoids this pipeline, except for the Droolies, who are loyal to the technocracy. The tech companies themselves have scaled down around their whale model to cater to their remaining fanbase, a legion of psychotic incels and radicals who do their bidding at the drop of a hat. They use these tools to sew chaos all over the world, and as a result, humanity is in a chaotic era known as the "Acceleration" where collapse is currently in progress. The Web 6'rs just chill out and listen to artisinal music, play co-op video games, farm food, and sometimes work for corpo Droolies, who are so Drool'd out that they don't even know how much they're being trolled by the 6'rs.
